I’ve enjoyed the technique so much that I might use it elsewhere on the site. Watch this space...

I might even contemplate writing a tutorial about it if the demand is there. It’s just that how I’ve used the technique, the div switching involves use of javascript code and iframes for loading external information, so there’s quite a bit of work involved to get it completely right. Lots of patience and experimentation was involved I can tell you. I suppose though, that in a tutorial, the content needn’t be that complicated, and if you managed to understand the general principle, you’d be able to add more complex content yourself, so... . Hang on, I’m not making any promises here - let’s see what happens and what else I can do on the site.

Anyway, check out the div switching technique, see what you think. Tell me what you think! Let me know if it works with your setup. Some feedback would be nice.

Well it’s taken me a good while to get right - but I’ve sorted it! Check out the div switching technique I’ve employed in two areas of the site - on the Guestmap and on the Home page. Because the Neocounter international visitor list was becoming longer and longer, taking a while to load, and making the page design asymmetrical. I was wondering how I could hide it and only show it when you were actually interested in looking at it. So div switching comes into play!

Try it out for yourself! On our home page, click on ‘Toggle visitor stats’ and you’ll see the statistics of our international visitors come up on the right. Click on it again, and it’ll disappear!

On the guestmap page, click on ‘Toggle our markers’ near the bottom of the screen, and you’ll see a scrollable window with the people who’ve signed our guestmap. Click on it again, and it’ll disappear.
